Edith took them up on it. Hopefully her vote will be counted by the Weekly Reader officials: Despite the incomplete marking of the square, her intent seems clear enough--
Edith reported that two kids in her class voted for McCain and the rest voted for Obama. I remember participating in a Weekly Reader presidential vote in third grade. The results perfectly predicted the outcome of the 1984 Reagan-Mondale election, state by state. Forget the pundits; if you want to know how America is going to vote, ask the kids. Of course, Edith's class vote only predicts the likely outcome in Princeton.Communication
Finally, a personal apology to various good friends who have left messages for us recently and to whom we haven't responded (LZ, TY, AB, JSCM, etc. ...). We are just barely staying on top of our game this autumn, and one thing that falls by the wayside tends to be staying in touch. Which we know is backwards, considering you all are far more important to us than the daily grind. Thanks for your patience as we figure out how to keep pace on our new treadmill. Hopefully we'll find some moments here and there to step off and get back in touch.

Scholastic also does a poll, which I think has always been accurate except once, and the winner was Obama.
Good luck with the weaning! It seems to be working!
Aha, yes it was the National Scholastic vote I was thinking of from third grade...
In 1988 our middle school actually had a voting machine that we all went into and cast our votes. I cast mine for Bush the Elder, which is amazing on a couple fronts.
One is that I voted for a Republican. But the other is amazing thing is to look back at how the country was in 1988, that a normal intelligent person could cast a republican vote and it wasn't considered a totally insane thing to do. if you have a minute go look at the 1988 electoral map - states like vermont, illinois, and california voting repub it's hard to imagine today.
I am so glad you wrote on my blog, because I'd lost track of yours. I'll be 35 weeks on Wednesday. I think our baby is coming Thanksgiving week...but we'll see. We've been saying that Grace would be a good middle name for a Thanksgiving baby...more so than Turkey anyway! An "a" name huh? Hmmmm. Ours is a "g". Liam was Spiderman for Halloween and enjoyed wearing his costume all day long. Bill and I retained our usual identities. Hello to the family!
