All the wisdom and folly of age

Heard from the same three-year-old mouth at different points this evening:

-Mom, sometimes on TV they're just trying to sell you things. To try to make you happy. [Asked what she thinks about that.] That's crazy.

-Mom, could you someday put curls in my hair for school? [Sure--or for church, I suggest, thinking back to the many Saturday nights of childhood that I slept with a row of six, pink, foam rubber curlers running from ear to ear.] No, for school. You know, Riley comes to school with lots of curls in her hair. I want to look like that.


Sigh.
