Good company
For what it's worth and without prompting on our part, these are the words that Edith now "reads"--that is, recognizes on sight. It's easier if they're in all caps, but otherwise her recognition is not context-specific. Sometimes she tries to write them, too:
EDITH
HARRY
TORREY
PETER
OBAMA
(I was interested that in this last sample Edith quickly acknowledged that the third letter was a mistake, but the convention of crossing out an error did not appear to be intuitive: Instead she put a squiggly line under it.)

Wow, that's so interesting! I also just blogged about Matilda's interest in writing letters. I guess the writing mamas have a particular stake in this!

Kennan has also begun to show an interest in letters. Isn't this a fun age!?!
"Obama" definitely seems to be a good pre-reading word. That big O is very recognizable. :)
