I went to the animal fair

The birds...

...and the bees...

were there.

So was the Older Toddler class, full of zoo animals. They did well with their spring play. Of course, they had been practicing in their classroom rather than onstage. When the scene begins all the animals are supposed to be asleep. But open a big red curtain and your preschool animals want to pop up to see what's going on and to say hi to the crowd sitting on the other side of the curtain. Edith managed to stay inert, though. Ms. Sheryl later praised her for her method acting: Totally in character, she stalked and looked fierce with the best of tigers. She also didn't smile or sing a note of the song. Who ever heard of a singing tiger?

Harry Elephant and Sifa Peacock were not interested in wearing masks--maybe because they observed the trouble that Edith Tiger and Joshua Monkey had seeing out of theirs. Sarah Lion did okay.

For the diehard fans, a (poor quality) video of the zoo scene:

And by way of extra footage for the Special Limited edition, a brief clip of the Infants and Young Toddlers. It was easily the most pre-possessed, charismatic Infant/YT performance in the three years we've been going to these shows--as the theater reviewers no doubt noted:
