Rather

Edith has been trying on the word "rather" for size. I think she's finding that it's a more efficient and powerful tool than the two-year-old "No! Not that! THAT!"

Some recent uses:

"I would rather wear that outfit, Mommy."

When the bath I was drawing for her got too hot for her comfort, she pointed to the cold tap and said, "I would rather turn on that faucet."

And last night at dinner in the middle of the conversation, "Would you rather be having twin babies?"

Well, would you? :P

I'm picturing "rather" spoken in a Charlie & Lola-esque British accent. We're getting "actually" pronounced that way, and I'm sure that's why.
