Doo-ahn's Poo-ahty

Edith--who is alarming us with the onset of a Jersey accent--attended her fifth wedding this weekend: that of Tom's cousin Dawn and her new husband, Mike. As Tom noted, the wedding had perhaps the highest ratio of children to adults of any wedding we've been to. The younger set tore up the dance floor and generally had a great time. Until later in the evening, that is, when a lack of sleep and overabundance of sugar caught up with Edith and made for a difficult rest of the weekend.

Edith's cousins had left Mom-mom and Pop-pop's house for the wedding ten minutes earlier. She was afraid she was being left out: "Edith go poo-ahty, too!"

Phew: Edith catches up with all of her first cousins

Caught in the act--with Mommy as enabler
(Actually, we all raised our eyebrows when the waiters came around and poured champagne only in front of the highchairs...until we learned they were pouring the sparkling cider first.)

Dawn proved how far true love will go, if not in the groom's cake then by entering the reception to "Take Me Out to the Ballgame." As I type, the bride and groom are, in fact, en route to Mexico via Phillies Opening Day. The wedding favors were signed baseballs...a great idea, unless you are hosting 20+ preschoolers in a banquet hall lined with glass doors.

When we told Edith she was going to Cousin Dawn's wedding, she was most excited to see "Baby Emma," Dawn's niece (and Edith's second cousin, a whole five months her junior). Don't know what the conversation was, but Emma's parents are imparting the best of manners to their daughter, and I'm sure she knew the appropriate response to Edith's show of muscle.

Tom let himself be talked into bouncing three (not-so) little Lanks at once to multiple refrains of "The people on the bus go up and down, up and down..."
