"Knock-knacks"

This sequence made me wonder: Edith refuses to have any kind of bows or barrettes in her hair. She takes them out immediately, hands them to me, and says, "No! Mommy wear it." Do you think she's so opposed to hair accessories because, at an age when it's all about imitating adults, she doesn't see Mommy wearing them? And if so, can you think of any hair accessories that wouldn't look silly on a 31-year-old academic?

"31 year old academic." that makes you sound *really* grown up.

Headbands work all right for me. Of course, I'm not 31. ;)

I was going to say headbands, and rubberbands for ponytails. I also have a few very sparkly barrettes I like. You could also put them in, leave them until she is at daycare, then take them back out. A little sneaky, but, eh, toddlers require some sneakiness!

Weading is wonderful, Edy, but if you already need to wear knock-knacks you better start thinking about audiobooks. Otherwise you'll be wanting lasik surgery before you're in kindergarten and the folks may have trouble springing for that. Love ya, Mor-Mor

I wear a ponytail almost everyday (although I am neither 31 nor an academic) and Sadie also likes wearing a "pony hair"...we both use hair elastics, although I prefer plain black ones and Sadie uses colored terry ones. She also likes wearing barrettes that she picked out herself, but not so much ones that I have selected.
