Enough yapping
Thought Edith's fans might prefer a few pictures.
"Hey Harrison, you asked my mommy to get you the X and I asked her to get me the O. Think it means anything?"
"Hey, quit spying, Mommy!"(Note: The beloved ballerina pajamas are seen in this picture.)
And because I can't resist a few words: Where did Edith learn about ballerinas anyway? The pajamas were a gift from a family friend who hadn't met Edith. We pointed out the ballerinas by name, but shortly thereafter Edith started twirling, lifting her leg in the air, and doing plies whenever we said the word. We weren't responsible for that. And whence the sudden love of pink? And why, when going through a favorite animal book with Tom tonight, did Edith say, "Snake. Scary"? She's never thought snakes were scary before, and we never suggested they were. How do all these gendered stereotypes filter in? How much of this is she picking up at daycare? Not that I mind her liking dance. But were the boys in her class included in the "ballerina" lesson, if school is where she learned it? And why teach her that snakes are scary?
One thing is certain: We already have a summer wardrobe for her--courtesy of hand-me-downs and off-season sales--and most of it ain't pink. I hope I don't have to forego all those lovely sundresses for a summer spent in ragged pajamas.

do people ever say that edith looks like her maternal Mor Mor? I think in the picture where she's smiling in the crib her face looks so much like GB's mom.
Great pics. Clever (re-)use of candles on the birthday cake. :) And of course Edith is adorable as ever!
