Clarification

As a spouse, I claim my right to brag. What Gretchen was obviously too humble to post was that she has been offered and has accepted a job teaching U.S. History at Colorado College. We are very excited about this turn of events for several reasons:

1. The job market in history is abysmal right now, and Gretchen is lucky to have been offered anything.
2. This is about as perfect an offer as she could have hoped for in any circumstance - a liberal arts college with a good reputation that values teaching, supports research, and has top-notch students.
3. We get to reconnect with some good friends and family - Gretchen's aunt Debbie lives north of Denver, my college buddies Dan and Trevor live in that area, Gretchen's friend Alex lives in Boulder, and our good friend Jane from Gretchen's graduate program lives in Colorado Springs with her family.
4. It's gorgeous. Reputedly. I haven't been there yet, but I like the pictures.
5. Edith was going to be transitioning from pre-school to Kindergarten and making new friends anyway. Alice is young enough not to know the difference for the most part.
6. We get to climb mountains, learn to ski, and ice skate, and whatever other outdoor activities strike our fancy.
7. Cost of living is about half of what it is in Princeton.

Of course leaving Princeton is not without its sorrows. We have made deep roots here. We are within striking distance of most of our family members. We love our church.

But God was going to move us sometime, and we feel blessed at how bright the future looks.

Fabu!! Congrats... COlorado College is a really neat school - very different structure and (hopefully) a great set-up for faculty. So happy for her - and of course, you guys! And here i thought you were just "visiting."

Beware of the scary neo-cons that live in the Springs - make a good space for yourself spiritually and bring a little East coast Christian liberalness to them thar hills!

Lived in CO for three years and still miss the mountains. CO has more fourteener's (you'll learn what that means so enough) than any state(50)and you'll absolutely love it. CS is smaller than Denver but close enough to do many things in the "big city". Good luck to Gretchen and the entire family.
