Little Wunny takes on the world

While sorting through the birthday pictures, with some still to be taken, I thought I'd squeeze in a post about Miss A. As Edith celebrates her 4th birthday with friends this coming Saturday, Alice will be turning five months old on the sidelines. Indeed, throughout a week of birthday festivities for Kiddo #1, Little Sister has quietly been reaching her own milestones.
The biggest of these was starting daycare. At the beginning of the month we said goodbye to Alice's cozy homecare situation with a friend of ours from the seminary community and began bringing her to "school" with Edith, where she joined Ms. Betsy's infant class, just as Edith did some 3.5 years ago. We were rather sad to see our baby move from a warm, serene babysitter's home into the big, bright, noisy world of group childcare, no matter how loving. But there are several reasons for it that ultimately outweigh the negatives.
So here she is. Notice one of these things is not like the others?
All of the other kids in her class began in September, before she was even born, and they are all now over a year old. They will move up to the younger toddler class this fall, while she will stay in the infant class with an incoming crop of kids closer to her age. In the meantime, she looks as intent on Ms. Violet's singing as the rest, even if she's the only one propped up in her seat with rolled blankets around her.
But as soon as she got home, she showed us the tricks she'd picked up from her peers, sitting upright for a few minutes at a stretch! Two days in daycare, and she's a big girl.Next stop, hair.
