Saying goodbye
We are just back from vacation and have a fair bit of blog catch-up to do in the next few weeks. And a fair bit of other types of catch-up, too. So before trying to turn out a vacation retrospective, here are a few photos to enjoy.
On July 31 we came into daycare to see a big banner wishing farewell to Harrison, Sian, and Jamie--three great kids whose parents graduated this year and for whom it was their last day at school before moving. Edith pointed out her friends' names to me on the banner importantly, but I couldn't help getting choked up. Edith and Harrison have been friends virtually since birth. Now they'll be several thousand miles apart. I hope they remember each other. And who knows: with the academic job market working as it does, we may wind up in close proximity again in another couple of years. In the meantime, best of luck to Harry and his parents in their new adventures in Texas--we'll miss you.

Aw, those pictures are sweet. Matilda actually wore those cat pants (from the BBQ picture) today! They're now cat capris.
Isn't it sad?! I still get really sad when I think that Kennan and Hannah are now so far apart, after spending so much of their lives together...
Those are super cute pictures of the two of them--I loved the progression. I also had to go back and read the When Harry Met Edie post, which was too funny!
OMG, those portraits are so adorable they made me type "OMG"! :)
Welcome back from vacation -- hope to see you one day next week.
I feel the same way about Liam and Annabeth. We are so glad that they are only 2 hours away, so we can get together from time to time. How're things coming along?
