June photos

Some readers have suggested that I stop yapping and start putting up more photos of EME herself. Point taken. Unfortunately, we've been remiss in photo-taking this past month. Here are the few we have. We'll try to do better come August.

Incidentally, I've grown dissatisfied with my photo-taking abilities. I'd like to take some lessons from some of you (hobokener, jennifer, etc...) Please pass on any advice, from the value of the right camera to better composition and lighting techniques.

At Lake Cayuga in New York

When Tom and Edith went down to Delaware a few weekends ago, they managed to be on hand for the grand opening of Tom's cousins' new ice cream store, on the family dairy farm. (Little green Edith is there on the right headed up with Mom-mom and Aunt Janet to check out the wares.) The best innovation, other than the delicious local ingredients, stems from the proprietors' experience as the parents of four: All ice cream is sold by the ounce. So no more paying $3.50 for a "small" when your toddler will only eat half of it anyway.

Edith's class has been enjoying "camping" these days. Here they are engaged in a marshmallow roast (marshmallows real, roasting imagined).

It appears that, other than Edith, only the boys are camping. Did that weird "no girls" rule from a previous post actually go into effect, and Edith's leading the charge to have it repealed, as she suggested she would? :)

Actually, the explanation is more mundane: Edith is queen bee this summer--no other girls around for June-August. It doesn't seem to phase her, except when all the other boys follow Torrey's lead and come running to give her hugs.
