All American?

Today we could have introduced Edith to that quintessential of American activities: marching on Washington. It was a beautiful day, and we could have joined hundreds of thousands in the nation's capital expressing their concern about the war in Iraq.

But while Edith's feelings about Iraq are not entirely clear, her feelings about long car rides definitely are. And while we're all for making one's voice heard on issues of importance, the prospect of eight hours in the car with a protesting infant made us--in this instance the representatives of Absolute Power--shrink from confrontation. So until Edith's position on carseats changes, we will attempt to project our voice on civic issues from Princeton.

Instead of inviting a showdown, we furthered Edith's all-American education in another vein: with her first football game, Princeton vs. the University of San Diego. She took it in stride, even the 100-yard return by Princeton with 1:30 left, the difference between the Tigers' winning and losing. Instead of following the action on the field, she seemed much more concerned about those black-and-orange plaid jackets on the band. Then again, who isn't?

We are very excited that Edith now has her own blog! Though we DO expect verve and wit on a consistent basis, from her mom if not from her (quite yet). She is even cuter than she was last month, if that's possible.

I am inspired. I think Julia will need her own blog, too. Maybe we should start before birth?

cue "Under the Sea" music:
"The Princeton band wears orange plaid,
They look so lame, they sound so bad,
No orange sweater, dark blue is better,
Y-P-M-B!"
*giggle*

Very happy to see Edith's new blog! Can't wait for further updates! :)
